Why Email?
In the marketing world, email is known as the gold standard. It's the least expensive and yet one of the more effective forms of marketing.
For your store specifically, sending even as few as six emails a year will lead to purchase boosting benefits. Among the most important, it will improve customer perceptions and drive top of mind awareness of your brand. Customers will also have a shorter path to purchase, as your online grocery services allow them to transition from browsing their email to ordering groceries.
Email Lists
Don’t have an email list? No problem. As shoppers create accounts on your ShopHero website, their contacts are saved under the “customers” tab of the admin panel. Click the download icon, located towards the top right, to receive an email list of your online customer base.
Bulk Email Services
Design and send thousands of emails using a bulk email service. We currently recommend using a company known as Mailchimp. With Mailchimp, emailing audiences to fewer than 2,000 contacts is free. If you do decide to use Mailchimp, you can also automate your email list to include new customers as people create accounts on your ShopHero Website.
How do I automate the updating of my email list on Mailchimp?
Email Tips & Ideas
- Create several ways for the recipient to be directed to your website from the email
- If you include recipes, include the ingredients and directions in the email. Providing a link will distract and lead viewers away from the email.
- Highlight certain areas of your store e.g., "shop fresh produce" with the link to your fresh produce page
- Attach your weekly ad
- Do not spam your customers (2-4 emails per month is plenty)
- Add links to your social media platforms
- Call it your weekly newsletter or another fun name
- Use subject lines that peak curiosity. Maybe “something you didn’t know about…”
- Promote your app! A customer downloading your app means sustained loyalty and larger cart sizes
